PodCast Requirement 2

This is the second part of my PodCast assignment. Click here to view my lesson plan, activity sheet, and rubric. I was confused on what each of these components needed to look like. I tried looking at other student's assignments and everyone had a different interpretation. I just did the best I could and am hoping for the best. I will say that I do need more practice in developing rubrics. I had never created on before this class and am glad to have gain the experience. I just hope that I did them right. I didn't really understand the purpose of the activity sheet since is was basically a repeat of the lesson plan.

PodCast Requirement 1

Click here to view my PodCast script. I was not able to complete the PodCast because I don't have a microphone. However I feel that this assignment could be very useful when having a substitute. Having a PodCast as the lesson would mean that the day wouldn't necessarily be wasted, as it is sometimes when a substitute is present that isn't knowledgeable about the subject content. A PodCast would also be useful when a student is absent. They could listen to the Podcast from home so they wouldn't get behind while being out of school.

Assessment Forms

Click here to view my Tuck Everlasting Quiz. I was very happy to finally get some instructions that made the assignment easy to complete. The Youtube video was very useful!! Also assessment forms is easy to use. I believe this will be very useful once I am in the classroom. Putting quizzes online will cut down on how much paper is used and when grading at home all I will need is a computer. The only problem I can see is having enough computers for an entire class to complete the quiz. I guess students could take the quiz in shifts but that may leave room for students to tell each other the questions for cheating. However using online quizzes is another good way for giving students more practice using a computer.

Assessment Rubistar

Click here to view my PowerPoint Rubric. I was glad to do this assignment and gain some experience creating a rubric. This rubric that I created came from pptrubric.html. I used the rubric as a guide but modified it for something that I can use when I have my own classroom. I have always appreciated being provided with a rubric as a guide when completing various assignments. Also students can use a rubric as a way to take responsibility for their own achievement on an assignment.

Movie Maker

Well of course the assignment was enjoyable until I had to put it on my blog. Finally, I have no idea what I did, I got it here. However it is blurry. I don't know why. I printed instructions off the internet on how to export my powerpoint files as images, which was easy. I also used the same instructions for creating a video. The instructions were step by step and very useful. I went to office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/HA100597371033.aspx. I believe the problem I had for getting my video on my blog was how it was saved. Once I changed that, not sure how I did, it went on my blog.

I believe this would be an activity that my students would definately enjoy. I could have them make a movie of each chapter from a novel we read in class. They could have a slide with a picture representing what happened in each chapter with a couple important events explaining their picture. I also believe my students will love adding music to their video since kids are so into music. I believe completing a movie will be a big confidence boosting, at least I know it was for me. Then they could take turns presenting their work to the class.

Pecha Kucha/Ignite

Check out this SlideShare Presentation:

I really liked this assignment. It didn't drive me crazy. Everything just seemed to work out the way it was supposed to. This year I completed my student teaching at East Park Elementary and worked with two boys that were in kindergarten, Special Education. On their IEPs it said they needed instruction in various areas and one was Science. So I did a unit on the beach. I wish I would have had this slideshow to show my boys. This would have been a great way to assessment what they already knew and what they had learned once the unit was over. When I added the music, Jimmy Buffet, it forgot that the song mentions drinking in various spots. Even though at first I thought Jimmy Buffet was a wonderful choice I will not be using that song in school. I even previewed the slideshow to my daughter, who just finished kindergarten, and she enjoyed watching it. I was surprised at how easy it was to copy the pictures I needed from the Internet and paste them to my slideshow. Once I change my music choice I will hopefully be able to use this slideshow with my future students.
